Laminated Smart Film

Laminated Smart Film

For glass fabricators and new builds: our PDLC film laminated permanently between layers of glass for a flush, edge-to-edge finish with maximum durability.

Overview

A permanent, flush switchable finish

Laminated Smart Film is bonded between two panes of glass during fabrication, much like a structural laminate. The switchable PDLC layer becomes a permanent part of the glass with no exposed film edges.

This delivers the cleanest, most durable result — a flush, factory-finished surface that resists handling, moisture and wear, ideal for high-traffic and architectural specifications.

  • Film laminated permanently inside the glass
  • Flush, edge-to-edge finish with no lifting edges
  • Maximum durability for high-traffic environments
  • Available to qualified glass laminators

Laminated Smart Film FAQ

How is laminated film different from adhesive film?

Adhesive film sticks to the surface of existing glass, while laminated film is bonded permanently inside the glass during fabrication. Lamination gives a flush finish and the highest durability, but is done at the glass-making stage rather than as a retrofit.

Is laminated smart glass considered safety glass?

Laminated construction holds the glass together if it breaks, similar to automotive windshields, which is why it is often specified where safety glazing is required.
